I Believe in the Health and Wealth Gospel
I am starting a new job as a salesperson later on this afternoon. It is causing me to think a lot about success and idolatry of money. Of course Jesus says no one can serve two masters. I take this command very seriously. A lot of sales books I have been reading are basically primers on how to worship money. At Trinity, it is pretty much accepted that you can rip on the “health and wealth gospel” and everyone will nod their heads in agreement that the Bible is absolutely opposed to such a thing. But the Bible does have a lot to say about prosperity, favor, success, and health. How do you think it fits all together? If you are sick or poor, is this God’s “mysterious will” for your life? Or does He desire that you rise up, confess prosperity over your life, and take it?
